Performance Factors

In an ideal world, every box would be the same size and would carry the same weight, to the same places in the same climatic conditions throughout the length of the journey. This would also happen without any vibrations or movements in transit.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case and there are a variety of factors that can affect box compression strength, including:

Case Design/Manufacture

  • Multi Depth Scores
  • Perforations
  • Handle Holes
  • Die Cut Features
  • Print

Palletisation

  • Layers per pallet
  • Double stacked pallets
  • Column v Brick stacking
  • Misaligned stacking
  • Overhang on a pallet
  • Quality of pallets
  • Avoiding damage

Environmental/Climatic Conditions

  • Humidity
  • Temperature
  • Length of time within storage and conditions therein

Transit

  • Vibrations
  • Length of journey
  • Export or domestic
