A leading college is helping an award-winning Leicestershire-based company build on its success by literally taking its staff to the next level.
Training delivered by Loughborough College has seen eleven of the team at Board24, part of the UK’s fastest-growing packaging group The Logson Group, achieve a Level 3 Institute of Leadership and Management qualification – with more to follow.
Following the Logson Group making the top three in ‘Ones to Watch’ in this year’s Sunday Times Profit Track and being named Packaging Company of the Year by Packaging News, Board 24 decided it was time to bring in the Leicestershire College.
“Our company slogan is ‘Make it possible’ and we knew that to continue delivering customer satisfaction at the highest level and to build on our success we had to put more into our people. So we asked Loughborough College to come in and take 11 of our senior staff through the ILM Level 3 course to improve their leadership and management skills.
“The results have been so outstanding we have already lined up another group of staff to start the course in September,” said Shawn Summerton, Board 24’s Operations Manager at the Coalville site.
Production Team Leader Chris Warner, 23 from Hugglescote, is thrilled with his qualification and cannot praise the course highly enough: “It was absolutely fantastic. This was my first experience of any sort of workplace training and Andrew Tinley from Loughborough College was an inspiration. We learnt great skills to bring out the best in our colleagues and it’s made a massive difference. If I was offered the chance to do another course I wouldn’t hesitate.”
Real Stores Team Leader Bryan Dennis, 55 from Ibstock, admits that after 16 years at the company he was unsure of the benefit of the course but says it was “brilliant. The tutor’s enthusiasm really rubbed off. We all learnt so much. I picked up some great tips that I put into practice immediately and I can see have had a really positive effect on my team. If there is any more training going I will certainly be putting myself forward.”
Robert Belcher, Commercial Manager at Loughborough College said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Board 24 on their Leadership development, particularly when the delegates have not only enjoyed the programme but been able to implement aspects of the programme immediately and seen the benefits of this highly practical Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) leadership programme.”
Richard McBride, Managing Director at Board 24 said: “The training programme met all my expectations and I am particularly delighted with the positive feedback from the delegates. In particular, I enjoyed listening to the final presentations of each delegate who demonstrated what they had learnt and how they were going to apply this newly-acquired knowledge back on the job. My thanks to Loughborough College for delivering a well-structured and constructive programme.”
