All products made by both Board24 and Cases24 can be sold as an FSC certified product – what does this mean and why should you make sure any wood based products you buy showcases the FSC logo?
FSC (Forest Stewardship council)® are a not-for-profit organisation and they work to improve forest management worldwide. At Board24 we are passionate about good environmental practices and we are committed to the protection of the world’s forests. If you buy a wood related product with an FSC label, it guarantees that the trees that are harvested are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally.
FSC certification is able to provide assurances that the certified products come from well managed forests, which mean the forest owner must use local workers, provide training, safety equipment and a fair wage. Forest owners also have to support the local community, such as helping to develop schools. The FSC also protects the rights of indigenous people to use the forest – their sacred sites are exempt from felling.
As the only wood certification scheme endorsed by major environmental charities, such as WWF, Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust, we place our trust in the certification.
FSC certified timber is traced from forest origin through the supply chain to the finished product. Every link in-between certified to make sure it is clearly identified which wood is FSC approved – and which is not. That way you can always be assured that the wood product that you are buying always comes from a well-managed and environmentally conscious forest.
