Leigh Wright is the night shift site Team Leader at the Board24 Coalville site and a part of the team for over 28 years.
Originally joining Board24 in 1991, working on the top take off on Corrugator 1, before moving onto the wet end. He later moved onto the facer on Corrugator 2 when a third shift was introduced due to increased workload and then became Team Leader on Corrugator 1 in 2003 before moving to his current role in 2012.
Whilst a team leader on Corrugator 1 he attended a course in Poland called ‘From Fibre to Corrugated’ to learn about the whole corrugated packaging process, from a tree to a finished case, where he learnt a lot of information that got him where he is today. Throughout his time at Board24 he has also had ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) training, safety, fire team and first aid training to help broaden his knowledge to benefit not only him, but his team.
Leigh Wright tells us a little about what he does and why he does it: “There is no ‘average day’ in my job, it’s constantly changing. I’m dealing with all areas of the plant and overseeing production and dispatch operations. I enjoy the challenge of solving the problems that come up on a day to day basis though I would have to say my favourite part of the job is working with a good, varied team of people. I have lots of great memories of this place, probably too many to even choose a favourite.”
Leigh would say that he’s passionate about music, he loves going to live concerts and the theatre and at the moment he has been learning to play the bass for the last 4 years. He’s also interested in photography, and in particular, astrophotography and will often spend some late nights taking photos of the night sky.
