On the 10th of October Board24 Coalville came together to help raise awareness and funds for World Mental Health Day. They took part in the campaign #HelloYellow and colleagues in the office wore something yellow to work that day and donated some money towards the cause.
The money donated went towards YoungMinds Charity who provide mental health support for young people in the UK. It is known that 1 in 10 young people have a mental health problem. 80,000 young people suffer with depression and 1 in 12 young people self-harm – and this is all before they reach the age of 18. It is really important that we support our young people and teach them that it’s ok not to be ok, and break the stigma behind mental health.
Pip Gorringe, the Marketing Manager for Board24, was the person behind raising money for this worthy cause. “Mental Health has always been important to me. When I was only 12 I was diagnosed with depression and the support I received from my family and doctors was amazing, with therapy and medical help I was able to fight through depression to become the happy, positive person that I am today. Mental health wasn’t discussed as much back then as it is today but without the help I received I dread to think what would have happened, and not everyone is as lucky as I was. If we can even take a small action towards raising awareness and funds for mental health then I think it can make all the difference.”
The money raised by the Board24 staff for World Mental Health Day was matched by Board24 and will be given to the charity. There are plans to do more over the year to bring awareness to this important and worthy cause.
