Gordon King is the Health and Safety Officer based at Board24, Larkhall and has been in this position for over 4 years.
Gordon has a degree in chemical engineering and has worked in health and safety for over 15 years throughout different industries, including whisky manufacturing, explosives manufacturing and a chocolate factory.
During his time at Board24 he has taken part in BRC training and also Osteopathic manual handling training and Legionella awareness, which has helped him have a better over-all understanding and management of his role.
Every day presents a different and unique challenge for Gordon, who tries to get some time out of the factory floor and balance his responsibilities with the mandatory risk assessments/SSOW, permits & contractor control. Gordon is also in charge of the BRC standards, of which Board24 Larkhall is currently AA grade, as well as site improvements and behavioural safety.
Gordon tells us about his favourite part about working at Board24: “I enjoy the challenge of trying to improve the site and the satisfaction that comes when you put something into place and it works seamlessly. I think my fondest memory of being here at Board24 was when we got out first AA grade in the BRC audit and we have kept it that way ever since.”
In his spare time Gordon enjoys doing DIY around the house as well as for family and friends and enjoys keeping fit by running or going out on his bike. Recently he has been spending time on the Xbox playing with his 7-year-old nephew.
