Coalville team makes generous donation to local school on World Book Day

Our Coalville team recently donated £500 to Ellistown Community Primary School, just minutes’ walk from the business, as the children celebrated World Book Day with a cosy day.

Members of the team, Kelly and Debbie, popped along to make the donation and chat with some of the children about their love of reading and their favourite stories including Kelly’s favourite children’s book Kiss Goodnight which she read every single night for two years to her youngest child!

As a child Debbie loved The Adventures of the Wishing Chair and Magic Faraway Tree and absolutely loved Elmer the Elephant with her daughter.

With reading proven to help children’s learning and wellbeing, World Book Day continues to be pivotal in showcasing how enjoyable and educational reading can be.

“Ellistown Primary is the school closest to our Coalville site, and it was a pleasure to be able to assist them in their quest to continue providing a range of exciting books for children to enjoy,” said Alex Morris, Group Commercial Director, Board24. “Thanks to the school for making our team members, Debbie and Kelly, so welcome and to the children for sharing their favourite stories.”

From picture books to modern day classics, children’s books are enjoyed by young and adults alike creating and evoking fond memories.

Many an adult has devoured the Harry Potter series; many a parent has regaled the adventures of The Gruffalo to their children, and classics such as The Magic Faraway Tree – set to be released as a film later this month – continue to stand the test of time.

Mrs Fellows, Headteacher, Ellistown Primary School, commented; “It was a pleasure to welcome Debbie and Kelly to our school and particularly lovely for Kelly to pay us a visit as an ex-parent, having seen her three children enjoy their primary education with us.

“Our thanks go to the Board24 team for their generous donation, and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
