As National Apprenticeship Week gets underway, we thought it pertinent to celebrate our past and present apprentices and the way that Board24 supports them to achieve their very best potential.
Apprenticeships were introduced to Board24 in 2022 and since then we have had many apprentices, some of whom are still completing their qualifications, and many who have successfully completed the training schemes we offered them to become fully qualified members of our team.
Currently there are 11 active apprenticeships, and we have offered a superb variety of training ranging from engineering to data analysis. However, but all have reflected the needs of the business and our drive to encourage new talent into all three sites at Coalville, Preston and Eurocentral.
Some of our apprentices have also been shortlisted for or won awards for their commitment to their roles. Reggie Willars and Alex Hill were finalists for Apprentice of the Year at the Made in the Midlands Awards 2025 and accepted the award for Manufacturing Future Talent Award given to Board24 at the same event. Laura Stanaway was a finalist at the 2025 Women in Packaging Awards in the Rising Star category.
Claire Butler, Head of HR, Board24 who has a clearly defined strategy to further integrate apprenticeships into the business commented; “Apprenticeships play such an important part in business and continue to increase in popularity making them more accessible to businesses and individuals.”
“We have had so many success stories and it’s been wonderful to see people across all areas of our business learn and succeed in roles which are hugely important in the day to day running of Board24.”
Apprenticeships have been successfully completed or are underway in HR, Data Analysis, Customer Services, Engineering, Production, Health and Safety and Business Administration.
Their workplace activities and learning are supported by a variety of colleges and training providers, who consolidate the knowledge they are gaining with legislative and technical requirements necessary to achieve the qualifications they are working towards in their respective fields.
“Over ¾ million apprenticeships were underway in the UK during the 2024/2025 academic year with a pleasing uptick in those starting them of 4.1% compared to 2023/24,” said Claire. “One of the most appealing aspects of modern-day apprenticeships is that they are not just for school leavers and young people and have no upper age limit. This means those who wish to find a new career path can also access them.”
