BOARD24 PRESENTED WITH ‘OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO FSC FRIDAY’ AWARD

An ‘Outstanding Contribution to FSC Friday’ award was presented to Board24 for their highly original and enthusiastic celebrations. The company celebrated FSC Friday for the second time in 2013 with a range of themed activities involving staff and visitors.

Board24 manufacture corrugated sheetboard and have held FSC certification since 2011.  All their corrugated board is 100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable, and is made from 90% recycled or recovered paper. The kraftliner line is made from FSC certified material.

The company took part in FSC Friday for the first time in 2012 with a range of activities and enthusiastically took part again in 2013, when they got into the spirit of things with FSC themed cake baking, a quiz and a green dress code for the day. Staff and visitors to the site also enjoyed a corrugated forest complete with woodland animals, including the magnificent Elvis the Stag – all made out of FSC cardboard. Board24 also attempted their very own ‘art attack’, using materials onsite to spell out FSC thereby creating a great overhead picture.

FSC UK’s Business Advisor, Sue Moss, travelled to Board24’s Coalville site to present the award to the Managing Director, Richard McBride.

FSC UK’s Deputy Director, Rosie Teasdale says: “It is wonderful to see companies such as Board 24 embrace FSC Friday as a celebration of responsible forestry.  By celebrating the day in such an imaginative fashion we believe the FSC message will have struck home to all participants.  Whilst we cannot present awards to every organisation that takes part in FSC Friday, we hope that more people will be encouraged to join the celebrations in 2014.”

Board24’s Managing Director, Richard McBride says: “Board24 are totally committed to the FSC accreditation process and try and encourage our customers to engage with us in buying FSC approved sheetboard and cases. We appreciate the recognition given to us by FSC UK and hope to continue growing our presence in this area.”
