Defra Colleagues see Corrugated Manufacture in Action

Share

Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) has always worked closely with the Defra Producer Responsibility team on matters such as the PRN system, recycling rates and the impacts of the emerging ‘Circular Economy’.  Former Head of Producer Responsibility, Sarah Steeds, was recently promoted and moved out of Defra.

CPI took the opportunity to invite the new Head of Producer Responsibility, Colette Wrigglesworth, and two other Defra colleagues, to visit Board24 in Coalville to see the manufacture of board and to understand industry issues. CPI is grateful to Board24 for hosting the visit that took place on Monday 17 October.

The Defra colleagues found the visit very informative and it opens the door for a constructive discussion on the future of the PRN system and the potential changes for the Paper Packaging Industry that may follow from the Circular Economy debate.

Richard McBride, Managing Director of Board24, commented; “It was a pleasure to invite members from the Defra Producer Responsibility team to Board24 and give them an overview of the operation.”
