Matt Ogden joined our Coalville team nearly nine years ago and currently holds the role of Conversion Assistant Team Leader (Trainee). He works with the team on casemaker 3, a three-colour printer die cutter which requires lots of attention to detail to manufacture the high-quality, high-volume cases Cases24 is known for.

Matt started with the Cases24 team as a casemaker operator 9 years ago. He has since worked his way to lead operator on both casemaker 3 and casemaker 4 and casemaker 2 before applying for his current position.

Casemaker 2 is a 3-colour die cut so lots of attention to detail is crucial. Each casemaker has different capabilities. Casemaker 2 and Casemaker 4 can run 3 colours and die cuts. Casemaker 4, the most recently installed, also has a pre-feeder. Casemaker 1 can run up to 2 colours and a die cut.

Matt said, ‘With the company I like how we all work together as a team. There is always something new to learn and I like how many opportunities I am receiving to learn and become a better team leader. I have recently done my first lean practitioner course, and I am doing a team leader development course throughout this year and next year. I’ve also just completed a 5s course’.

5S is a five-step methodology that helps with organisation and production in the workspace. 5S is an organisational method describing how to organise a workspace efficiently using the 5 steps: Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain.

Matt continues, ‘I’m looking forward to growing as a person and to become a full-time team leader. I’m excited to see how our company will grow and looking forward to being a part of that.’

For anyone thinking about applying to be a lead operator, Matt says ‘We do a lot of difficult jobs which means some tough decisions have to be made. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Be responsible, reliable and a people’s person as you will oversee a crew.’

Matt describes himself as a dog lover – his family recently fostered a young puppy called Panda until he finds his forever home. Matt enjoys spending time with his family which also includes Sandy the young Cavapoo and two cats.
