Board24 are well known for their charitable events and sponsorship, including support of community or educational related projects that require sheet board.

Walton-Le-Dale High School has approached Board24 Preston for the second year running for help in their Open Day. The school hosts an annual open day for year 5 pupils from local primary schools once a year and they are renowned for their impressive displays based around well-known children’s’ books and authors such as ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Roald Dahl’.

Paul Grave who is the technology technician at Walton le Dale High School told us: “We provide an annual themed Year 5 Visit Day – last years was themed around Harry Potter.  A featured part of open days is welcoming the pupils and this usually means creating a set for them to walk through into the welcome assembly.

“We are always keen to work with local businesses and the local community but, when looking around for supplies to build a large scale Diagon Alley set, I was struggling to find anywhere that could help until I approached Board24 through Alison McCarrick. Not only was Alison able to help, it was great to be able to partner with a local business to provide a fantastic experience for our visiting pupils.

“This year we’re hoping to add to the Diagon Alley set by creating the Hogwarts Express too,  and of course Board24 were the first people I thought of, and again they’ve been brilliant!”

Last year, the school built Diagon Alley from a scale model based on four well known Harry Potter shop fronts and included several different props from the books, including the Sorting Hat and an Owl delivering a Hogwarts’s letter, all made from paper and board.

Board24 Preston was initially approached for potential donation of board and they were more than happy to donate large sheets of board to re-create Diagon Alley on a massive scale in their sports hall.

Alison McCarrick, customer services administrator at the Preston site said: “We are always very happy to help local schools, nurseries and clubs create displays with our Cardboard – As you can see from the pictures they do some truly amazing work. Getting involved in local projects for the community is always a pleasure.”
