Another loyal Board24 employee Lisa Barrs, Financial Controller is soon to reach her 25 year milestone.

Lisa started as an Accounts Clerk in 1993 under the then ownership of Modelboard. In 1995 Lisa was promoted to Assistant Accountant and in 1997 took a new role of Company Accountant with Lavender Boxes in Leicester, now Boxes and Packaging Leicester. Lisa re-joined the team in 2001 as an Assistant Accountant at what was then Mondi Packaging UK Head Office and has been with the business ever since. During this time she has worked alongside Frank Allan, Finance Director and has been learning from him ever since. Lisa progressed on to more senior roles eventually becoming Financial Controller in 2007 for Board24.

During her working career she studied for her accountancy qualifications and now holds Fellowship with AAT. Initially, this took three years of study going to evening classes after work.

As an experienced financial controller and valuable member of the team, Lisa is responsible for heading up the accounts team. She produces the management accounts for the company and oversees all functions within the department…all the really exciting stuff – but that’s what she loves!

After 25 years it is clear Lisa enjoys her role at Board24, she likes that her roles changes, keeping things fresh and interesting. She has been taking on more responsibility as she progresses in her role, tapping into the knowledge and experience of Frank as she works under his guidance to understand more about the business and the industry.

Lisa manages a team of five who oversee the finances for each of the three Board24 sites, commenting “We have a good little team here in finance, we may only be a small team but it’s a strong team who all work hard.”

When Lisa isn’t busy managing the accounts team or punching numbers into her calculator she

enjoys her home life, spending time with family and friends and working towards that next holiday. Having not long moved into her forever home, Lisa has been spending time tending to the garden and getting her home just the way she wants it.

Lisa recently celebrated her 50^th birthday, which entailed lots of treats and surprises, which included her office being decorated by her colleagues and a surprise party organised by her husband. To keep the celebrations going, she is off to Vegas this summer, taking in the sites, a show or two and the odd flutter at the casinos. This will be a double celebration as she celebrates her 15^th wedding anniversary. Lisa met her husband through a work’s night out, which works in his favour as he has his own business and she takes care of his books…she does love those numbers!
