Board24 Preston donates sheets of cardboard to SAMS (Scrap Art Material Store) for the benefit of local grass roots community groups.

SAMS (Scrap Art Material Store) is a not for profit community enterprise, who’s aim is to recycle clean, non-toxic surplus materials from local business, that would normally end up in a landfill site. SAMS have been established since 2000 and is run by volunteers. They combine a growing concern for the environment with a financial benefit for many companies.

Each day, industry throws away tonnes of waste. And every day, children and other community groups need tons of materials for play and other creative activities. SAMS collects these materials and sort and display them in our premises – which is open to members that include; schools, playgroups, community organisations, amateur dramatic groups, nurseries etc – the company, the community and the environment benefit.

Joanne Mason, SAMS Supervisor, commented; “We are always on the lookout for surplus and waste materials that can be used in a creative way.  SAMS has some great support from local businesses – it is a wonderful way for companies to help their local community and the environment at the same time. Businesses are often told they ought to think about Corporate Social Responsibility and SAMS provides a way of ‘giving back’ that has real and lasting community benefits and this is exactly what Board24 have done.”
