Representatives of the UK’s Paper-based Industries gathered at the House of Lords Terrace for the first-ever Paper Industry Gold Awards on Wednesday 11th May.  The awards were organised by the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) in partnership with the Paper Gold Medal Association.

Over 100 people from across the industry and key political stakeholders attended the Paper Industry Gold Awards 2022 to celebrate the industry’s achievements and recognise its outstanding employees and companies.

Logson Group received a highly commended award in the category of Health and Safety, which acknowledges the positive steps taken by Logson in growing a safe and healthy working environment for their employees. A SWOT analysis identified issues related to how health and safety is managed, how significant risks are controlled, and how site safety cultures are implemented. Significant financial investments have been made in improving physical safety such as machinery guarding and workplace transport layouts. Investments have also been made in improving the software and system for health and safety management. As a result, Logson has significantly increased the time spent discussing health and safety with their workforce, which has been a key factor in their success.

The Cardboard Box company, part of the Logson Group was presented with the winning award for Community Engagement due to their positive effect on the public at large. The company has a long history of involvement in local community and charity projects, including being Founder patrons of Blackburn Youth Zone, sponsors of East Lancashire Hospice events, the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show and The Festival of Making.

More recently, during the pandemic they went above and beyond to support their local community and charities across the Northwest, particularly in supporting the more vulnerable in society. Thousands of boxes were donated and supported local initiatives, including the distribution of 30,000 food parcels for Blackburn with Darwen Council and distribution of over 1600 Blessing and Wellbeing Boxes to residents in need.
