Our staff profile this month focuses on newly appointed Corrugator Production Manager, Edward Scobie, who has worked at Board24, Coalville for the past 11 years.
His career began on the corrugator 2 dry end, where he learned the ins and outs of the machine before progressing to a team leader on the corrugator 1 by the age of 23.
In 2020, he completed the CMI L5 Operations/Department Management course with distinction, becoming a chartered manager. Due to Edward’s dedication and hard work, this achievement will allow him to use his leadership and management skills to make a positive impact at Board24.
Edward was among the few selected to participate in the Logson Development program, where he conducted three projects over a period of 24 months.
The first project Edward completed was at B&P Leicester, where he removed an Asahi flatbed declutter and replaced it with an Eterna flatbed diecutter, including work mix analysis, tooling analysis and SMED exercises to maximise performance. At Jardin Corrugated, he was responsible for analysing commercials at a machine and site level and worked on cost attribution at the commercial level. Lastly, a collaborative project by Boxshop, B24 Preston, and CBC focused on identifying supply-chain losses. Edward developed a system using excel that achieved these goals at a high level and was able to report losses by category to source sites in order to improve the supply chain’s efficiencies.
His main focus over the last year, was Coalville’s largest and most complex project, Project Fox. This involved multiple factors; numerous machine moves, structural steel alterations, structural extensions, transformer upgrades whilst having zero impact on production and navigating that along with over 100 contractors through a pandemic. Since then, he been focusing on the site and uplifting various elements.
Edward particularly enjoys aspects of his role that enable him to drive company initiatives, whether that be improving people’s experiences at work and culture, their work environments, or businesses strategies.
During his free time, Edward enjoys a variety of sports and is keen to get back into his snowboarding, he also has several half marathons under his belt. Recent years have seen Edward spend more time training and focusing on strength and conditioning in the gym. As a keen sportsman, he also dabbles in golf, albeit not very well.
When he’s not training in the gym, Edward’s been concentrating on home improvements, either tiling the bathroom or kitting out the home gym.
