Employee Brightens Up Her Street

This Christmas time, Chloe Finlayson, the Marketing Coordinator at Board24 Coalville, has been lighting up her street along with her fellow neighbours.

Chloe and her partner have been decorating their house and their neighbours houses for 5 years running, with their vintage Christmas light collection.  The newest addition to the display has been 9 reindeers, Santa and his sleigh, suspended 20ft in the air.

Chloe commented, “It makes the dark, winter evenings more enjoyable, even the smallest efforts like decorating a shrub to lighting the whole house can make a huge difference to people passing by. Particularly after the last few years, people need these sorts of things to brighten up their days”.

“People enjoy the unique nostalgic look of our display. We intentionally don’t use many LED lights, and instead use incandescent filament lights – for the warm and soft colour glow”.

It takes most of November to complete the display, including mainly cold hours spent up a ladder. However, the cold evenings are worth it for raising money for an incredible charity. Chloe is raising funds for the mental health charity, called Mind. They provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, as well as campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

The £300 that Chloe and her neighbours were able to raise will now be matched by W & R Barnett Charity Matching Scheme.
