Christmas Food Bank Donation

On Tuesday 17th December, Board24 Larkhall donated a large amount of food items to their local Food Bank.

Two years ago, Larkhall had a Christmas Jumper day to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and this year they wanted to raise money for a worthy cause closer to home. All employees brought in items that they wanted to be donated over to ‘The Trussell Trust’ – a local food bank run by the Trinity Church in Larkhall, which cover the Clyde, Avon and Bethan area. The Trussell Trust end to aim hunger and poverty in the UK and support a nationwide network of food banks. Together they aim to provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

Elaine tells us: “’It was myself, Kirsty and Teri that decided together to set up the donation. I knew there was a local food bank based in Larkhall, which helped families living in the local area. We decided to donate because it has been highlighted recently on the news, about the number of families living in poverty all over Scotland and the UK. As Mums ourselves, we couldn’t begin to think how it must be for parents struggling to feed their own children”.

On the Tuesday colleagues Elaine, Kirsty and Teri delivered the donations to the organisers at the Trust, who were extremely grateful for their generous donations – all the items were weighed and distributed to local families in need and really made a difference for Christmas.
