This month’s staff profile features Dave Gibson, Reel Stores Team Leader who joined Board24, Preston, in August 2012.

In a few weeks, Dave will celebrate his 10th anniversary at Board24, where he has worked solely in reel stores on the clamp trucks.  Dave had 22 years’ experience in the printing industry before joining Board24, and has enjoyed seeing the Preston site grow from one corrugator to two.

During June 2021, Dave was promoted to Reel Stores team leader, managing 13 drivers. Dave’s main responsibilities include overseeing the daily operation of reel stores. Reel stores are the start of the production process, and they can unload up to 21 trailers a day. Dave relishes the importance of teamwork in his role.

Over the past year, Dave has attended several courses to upskill and further develop himself. In addition to the Leadership Development program, Dave attended two workshops at Mytton Fold with other members of the Logson Group.

Originally a BRC auditor, Dave is now assistant to Mick Walsh, and they attended a 2-day training course earlier in the year. Dave was also awarded IOSH certification after attending a three-day course.

Dave’s working day passes quickly because he really enjoys what he does, especially seeing the operators’ development and training progress.

Dave is an avid sports fan and enjoys watching Lancashire and England cricket.  In addition to cricket, he’s a massive football fan. He is a season ticket holder with Preston North End; he regularly attends away matches with family and friends, which he has done since he was 11 years old. This year, he travelled to Germany to watch Bayern Munich and Regensburg play.

When he’s not cheering on his favourite sports team, he enjoys rocking out to music and attending gigs across the country. Dave’s all-time favourite band are local rock legends, The Stone Roses formed in Manchester City in the 80’s.
