Three in four Brits are prepared to splash the cash for eco-friendly homes.

Almost eight out of ten Brits (79%) have opted for eco-friendly design features in their home, including LED lightbulbs (40%), double glazing (37%), smart meters (31%), and dedicated recycling areas (16%), according to new research by cardboard campaign group Beyond the Box.

Sustainability is more important than style to one third of Brits (33%), who say an eco-friendly home is more important than a fashionable house.

More than half (50%) say sustainable home design is a priority, but two in five (43%) say it would be their top consideration if they were designing their own.

Leading the charge are millennials and Gen Z

The greenest group of all? When it comes to putting their money where their mouth is, millennials and Gen Z are leading the charge.

The Gen Z generation (aged 18-24) will invest on average over £7,000 in their homes, followed by young millennials (aged 25-34) who will cough up £4,400, compared to the tight-fisted over 55s who will spend just £2,600 on greener living.

“It’s great to see that the younger generations are committed to investing in their homes to future-proof them and make them more environmentally friendly,” explains Andy Barnetson, spokesperson from Beyond the Box.
