With the aim of creating a more open culture around mental health, Board24 has been developing and implementing a wellbeing strategy. Board24’s growing focus on welfare made partnering with a mental health organisation a logical next step.

Mates in Mind is a leading charity in the UK that engages in raising awareness about mental health and addressing the stigma associated with it. They promote and lead on the development of positive mental wellbeing within the workplace, working across industries like construction and manufacturing.

Mates in Mind provides companies with information about mental health, wellbeing support, guidance, and how they can address it within their organisations.

On Monday 1st August, at Coalville, several members of senior management and line managers attended a course called Manage the Conversation delivered by Mates in Mind. This training provides an excellent framework for leaders increasing their understanding and awareness of mental health, how to spot the signs, support their team and how to have conversations about mental health.

Dominic Drew, Group Managing Director commented, “The senior team and line managers of our company need to be leading from the front to ensure we reduce any mental health stigma by education and therefore improving both self-awareness and the wellbeing of their team members”.

Managers at Preston and Larkhall will attend this course in the coming month. Subsequently, mental health awareness training will be offered to all managers across the businesses in the following months to meet the business’s goals.

One of Board24’s We Make It Safe principles, states, “we all play an active and engaged part in Making It Safe.” Board24 recognises that employees have a key part to play and should be responsible for helping to create an open culture around mental health with future plans for all staff to have the opportunity to receive mental health training.
