Many people come and go through our lives but when you spend a lot of time at work some of those people you get to know pretty well.

This is the case with the team at Menzies, our third party logistics partner, responsible for delivering our finished goods across the country. With many of the team working together on a daily basis, it was a terrible shock to our team when they learnt of the child of one of the colleagues being diagnosed with Leukaemia at just three years old.

Debbie Newbold, Customer Services Team Leader, Board24 explained; “Niall is a very trusted and valued colleague and during meetings with Niall we would often talk about our children.  Mason was a typical boy full of life and character, it was heart-breaking to hear about his illness – it really touched my heart.

Not only did they have this awful diagnosis, but their financial situation was also impacted as it is a minimum of a 2-year treatment plan and his wife would need to give up work for this period due to the intense treatments.”

During the spring members of the team have taken on a 10,000 step a day challenge, held bake sales and other events to raise an amazing £3090.

Debbie added; “It was lovely to be raising this money and knowing exactly where it was going and who it would help. I know it meant such a lot to the family and hopefully it has eased a little bit of the financial worry they are facing. This was the driving force, and all Board24 were very happy to be on board and helped massively with the fundraising, it was a team effort. I am very proud of our achievement.”
