Paul Powers Retires

Paul Powers, an electrician is retiring after over 15 years loyal service at Board24 and has helped develop many of the engineering team with his knowledge and vast experience.

Paul started with ‘Modelboard’ back in 1989 after being made redundant from the coal mines where he had worked as an underground electrician. He started with Modelboard as the only electrician.

Paul brought several skills from the pits – a trained medic and firefighter at Coalville station. In this firefighting role, he was one of the first to attend the Kegworth air crash on the M1 – not a happy memory he told us.

Over these years, Paul oversaw the installation of corrugator 2 at Coalville and many modifications and expansions of the palletising lines. Although Paul was made redundant when Mondi Packaging bought the Modelboard group, Paul was lucky enough to re-join in later years.

After his retirement Paul plans to continue with his hobbies of Karaoke Parties and playing musical instruments including the Banjo and bagpipes. As a parting gift, Paul’s workmates bought him a season ticket to Donnington Park racetrack together with a super car driving weekend experience.

Board24 and his many friends at Coalville wish him well for the future.
