STAFF PROFILE – MICHAEL LORD

Share

Michael Lord is the Board24 IT Controller and has been with the company for 24 years. He began his career as an admin assistant and tried his hand in many roles before he settled into IT in 2000. Michael has always worked within the packaging industry and says there is nowhere else he would rather be.

Michael’s role as IT Controller can vary day to day, but mostly he is involved in different projects to improve the business alongside daily problem solving.

Michael says “I like dealing with everyone in all sides of the business, due to the nature of my role I could spend the day going from the factory floor, over to finance, to sales and then to the MD’s office. I can be required anywhere at any given time, often being needed in more than one place at a time!

“I never know what problems I’m going to be presented with on any given day, so it keeps me on my toes. I enjoy the problem solving aspect of the role.”

Board24 believes in investing in their staff and Michael is no exception. In 2008 Michael was sent on ITIL Quanta training by Board24. Quanta offers 3 levels of ITIL qualifications to prepare people for working in all areas of IT management.  Michael passed his course, giving him a greater depth of knowledge into the support element of his IT role.

In his spare time Michael is a keen cyclist and loves mountain biking and wishes he had more time to dedicate to it. He enjoys spending quality time with his family and after purchasing a ‘fixer upper’ last year, he’s been concentrating on home improvements. He also can’t wait for the house to be finished so he can spend the extra time getting back to one of his other passions – cooking.

Michael loves spending time with the kids, especially playing Lego, and has admitted he has his own private collection of Lego creations he made when he was younger, hidden in the loft away from the children.

Michael is also very creative and has designed and created two of his close friend’s wedding stationary and hopes to do more of it in the future.
