Staff Profile – Morgan Walker

This month’s staff profile features Morgan Walker, a planner at Coalville who started in March 2022.

Across our 3 sites, Morgan monitors machine loads, plans how jobs and programs will run, and issues orders.  As part of her key responsibilities, she coordinates with the factory’s team leaders regarding planned downtime, program inserts, and which papers are needed next. Morgan’s manager, Graham Newbold, jokingly states that her most important duty is “to serve and obey his Lordship”. Her special relationship with the team is one of her favorite aspects of the job – it’s a good thing she has a thick skin to put up with all their mischief. And we can’t forget the sweet treats.

Morgan and the planning team are responsible for ensuring all machines are running according to schedule, and without them, the factory would slow to a standstill. Despite being fairly new to the business, Morgan enjoys the challenge and thrives on learning new aspects every day. Morgan impressed her team so much that her probation period was completed two months earlier than expected due to her character and skills. Through continued learning, she hopes to progress and develop in her role and within the company.

A topic very close to Morgan’s heart is mental health and wellbeing. In the future, Morgan would like to complete a mental health training course so she can be a supportive colleague to those that are going through challenging situations.

Outside of work, Morgan is extremely passionate about animals. From the age of six, she began riding horses and owned one from the age of 13. She went on to achieve her level 3 NVQ qualification in Animal management and Horse Management. Whenever Morgan is not in the stables, you can find her in the gym. She enjoys working out and hopes to get back into dancing and kickboxing soon.

Morgan is also passionate about traveling. In memory of her Nana and Grandad, she is eager to visit her grandparents’ hometown in Spain, as well as visiting many other countries. Her mother and father used to take her skiing every year when they lived in Germany, and she is looking forward to getting back to it soon. She lived in Germany for 7 years while both her parents were in the military.

Did you know Morgan was fluent in German and Spanish, albeit a tad rusty now.
