Craig Saunders joined Board24 in March 2022, as a fitter in the maintenance team at Coalville. Before working here, he spent 10 years serving with the Royal Engineers in the British Army. Despite being a fitter in the military, the types of work he was doing prior to starting at Board24 were quite different. He found himself working around the world in a wide variety of environments.

His main responsibilities in his role as a fitter include attending to any breakdowns, as and when they occur, as well as ensuring that the plant is maintained in accordance with any planned maintenance procedures as required. As well as that, he also performs daily checks throughout the factory, for example, on the boiler. He continues to be involved in different aspects of factory upgrades and investment projects.

Craig commented, “Since I started working here, I have gained a lot of valuable knowledge as it is a world apart from where I had come from, but I have enjoyed the challenge as well. I plan to continue to push myself within the team and hope to be able to work here for many years to come.”

It is not all work and no play. Outside of work, Craig enjoys spending quality time with his wife and 3 children. During his spare time, Craig enjoys going to the gym, where he focuses on strength training.
